Hi my name is Daniel Box I grew up in Channelview and went to Channelview ISD and graduated from Channelview High School. I lived most of my life in Precinct 2 . I am a carpenter by trade and currently work as a licensed building inspector for a large municipality. I studied at San Jacinto College North and at the University of Houston main campus. I received a diploma from the Department of Labor as a general commercial Carpenter through the United Brotherhood of Carpenters apprenticeship school Houston. Most of my friends and family live or work in Precinct 2.
As commissioner for Precinct 2 I will see that our infrastructure gets repaired and maintained by using small businesses and local labor to help county workers and not to replace them. I will seek funding from state and federal government to build new infrastructure in Precinct 2 that would be used to Spur economic growth and job creation.
I will champion property tax reforms that get rid of the large loopholes that big businesses and corporations use to take giant deductions off the worth of their commercial properties. If these loopholes were closed and big commercial properties were paying their fair share in property taxes there would be no reason to raise property taxes and there would be enough money to cover the infrastructure expenses of the county.
